Stunning Spizike was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter that was significantly over capacity. Waiting for her forever family, Spizike was placed on a stray hold. Although timid in the crowded shelter, staff could see this girl was special. When volunteers got her out and about for breaks from her kennel run, Spizike's personality simply shined. She relaxed, showed her playful side, and quickly proved that she was an amazing dog. Everyone was hoping that this sweetheart's family would step forward to claim her. Unfortunately, no one stepped forward. With so many other dogs to compete with for placement, Spizike's chances of finding a safe and loving forever home began to decline. Knowing that shepherds are most successful when placed within a breed specific rescue, one of the shelter coordinators reached out to MAGSR for help. They knew if given the chance, Spizike would be a perfect match for an active home. Our team knew Spizike was the right fit, so we immediately welcomed her to the MAGSR family.
Spizike is a stunning girl. Although frightened in the shelter environment, when given the chance to relax, this girl's goofy personality absolutely shines. With a little time to adjust and build trust, Spizike is beyond happy to accept love, attention, and plenty of pets. Her favorite thing? Balls! They are her jam and are the quickest way to Spizike's heart. When introduced to other dogs at the shelter, Spizike was energetic and displayed a playful attitude. She was friendly and social while enjoying zoomies throughout the play area. Fortunate to have been placed with an incredible temp foster, Spizike has fit seamlessly into her foster family and their pack. Very playful and sweet, she has happily enjoyed daily play time and the opportunity to play with a variety of toys. Living with both male and female dogs, she seems to adjust her energy to the energy of the dogs around her. Spizike mirrors the energy of the dogs in her pack. The more active dogs excite her and she mirrors their energy. The more reserved dogs temper her excitement. Spizike has also been living with small animals and cats who are very accustomed to large dogs. She has done well with them and may be a great match for a household with small animals. However, she has not been exposed to cats or small animals that act like prey. Although Spizike is learning the ins and outs of living in a home, it is important that her forever family give her time to adjust to their expectations and routines. We know she will thrive with clear routines, structure, and leadership. Training will go a long way with Spizike. Not only will it help her create a strong bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. With time, training, and patience, we know that Spizike is going to bring endless joy to a lucky family.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Spizike is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been avoided had she been provided with monthly heartworm preventatives. Knowing that this diagnosis if left untreated is deadly, MAGSR has already begun to get Spizike the care she needs to move forward. Heartworm treatment is expensive, but we know that Spizike is beyond worth the cost. Please consider donating to her care. Your donation will not only help Spizike get the treatment she needs to move forward, but it will also help us continue to support other dogs in need. Spizike will need to take it slowly over the next few months while undergoing treatment. This will give her body a chance to move forward. She is hoping to recuperate in a forever family of her very own. If you are looking for the perfect mix of playfulness and chill, look no further than Spizike.

Sweet Steffi was brought in as a stray to an overcrowded shelter with several puppies. They all waited while the babies grew old enough to be independent from mom. When old enough the puppies were separated from Steffi and adopted, but mom was left behind. Steffi waited for that perfect family that would welcome her home and love her for a lifetime. When no one stepped forward to welcome this sweet momma, she found herself on the list to be euthanized. Knowing that mamas deserve the same opportunity to find safe and loving homes as their babies, team MAGSR was fortunate to be able to work with several other groups to pull Steffi from the shelter just before she was euthanized.
Steffi is special. She is gentle, even tempered, and an absolute love. After all that she has been through, she can be a little timid with new people and new situations. But, when given a little time and some treats, Steffi's playful personality emerges. Her foster family absolutely loves this little lady. They feel she has the right balance of affection, play, and zest for life. As a young girl, Steffi is still learning the ins and outs of good canine citizenship, but we know she is going to be impressive. She will thrive when provided with the structure, routine, and leadership that all GSDs crave. Living in an incredible foster home, Steffi has been enjoying all of the perks of living in a home. She seems to be housebroken and is crate training beautifully. Steffi loves the comforts of a household and has clearly learned some manners along her journey. Although already making progress with manners, Steffi will, like all dogs, benefit from training. Not only will training help Steffi build a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Treat motivated but gentle, we know this girl is going to be the star of her class.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Steffi is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided with monthly prevention. Recognizing that Steffi deserves every opportunity to meet with success, MAGSR has already begun her treatment. Steffi will need to take it easy over the next few months while she completes her treatment. However, this will give her time to enjoy plenty of cuddles and affection. Steffi is looking for a forever family that will love her for a lifetime. Could that family be you?

Bo was fortunate to find an amazing forever family several years ago. He and his dad were two peas in a pod. They had a solid routine together and greatly enjoyed having a constant companion. Although it seemed like these two would be together for a long time, unfortunately, things don't always work out the way we hope. When Bo's dad began getting sick, Bo kept him company and waited for him to get better. He adjusted to other people stepping in to help out and kept waiting for the day when things would go back to the way they were. Bo didn't quite know it yet, but getting better wasn't in the cards for his dad. Knowing that things were not going to work out the way everyone hoped, Bo's dad contacted MAGSR for help. He wanted to ensure that Bo would be able to move forward safely with an incredible family that will cherish his boy for a lifetime. Once a MAGSR dog, always a MAGSR dog. Bo is back with team MAGSR. We are making sure he has everything he needs as he adjusts to life without his dad.
Bubbly Bo is a happy-go-lucky guy. He is friendly, affectionate, and very social. Clearly comfortable with people, Bo is beyond happy to say hi to new friends. He greets them with wiggles, kisses, and a good lean in. The definition of a velcro dog, Bo loves to be with his people. He will ensure that you have a fluffy shadow keeping tabs on you and your surroundings. Typical of the breed, Bo likes to take the lead and is most successful with clear direction, boundaries, and expectations. If given the opportunity to control a situation, Bo is happy to step in. When provided with clear structure and routine, Bo thrives. Having lived in a home for many years, this handsome guy understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. He is already housebroken and crate trained. Beyond the age of chewing on toys or furniture, Bo is respectful in the home environment. However, if given the chance, he will try to cuddle up next to you on the couch. True of dogs at any age, Bo will benefit greatly from training. Not only will training help Bo create a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him continue developing the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Bo is an absolute sweetheart who enjoys daily outings, a good bone, and endless belly rubs. Like all senior pups, Bo is hoping to find a forever family that will cherish him in his golden years. If you are looking for a charismatic pup who will love you with his whole heart, look no further than Bo.

With lots of energy and curiosity, this handsome boy is almost still like a puppy, but with the people that he has met, he has shown to be a real sweetheart who loves a good cuddle. Like all shepherds, Ghost will be most successful when given clear direction, boundaries, and expectations. When provided with structure and routine from a calm and confident handler, Ghost will thrive. His future new home will help get him the training he needs to create a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him continue developing the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. Estrella is a delightful little lady who has been failed by humans over and over again. As just a young pup, this little lady made her first trip to animal services with her mom and several siblings. The entire family received their first round of medical care on this visit. When their family came to claim them, the entire family was returned. Unfortunately, this pattern continued over the next eight months. Estrella and some members of her family would be picked up by animal control, brought into the shelter, given some basic care, and returned to her family. Finally, after six months of this cycle, animal services decided that Estrella had been through this cycle enough. She deserved a family that would love her, care for her, and provide her with the love and safety all dogs deserve. Although the shelter had good intentions and hoped to find Estrella an incredible family that would cherish her, with numbers at critical capacity, Estrella didn't have much time to find the right match. When we learned that this girl was moved to the list to be euthanized, team MAGSR stepped in and welcomed Estrella to the family.
Little Miss Estrella - our "little star" - is a friendly, wiggly, young girl. Still very much a baby, this girl is energetic, goofy, and full of puppy antics. She is hoping to find an active household that will continue to socialize her with people and other animals. As is true of all GSDs, daily exercise for her body and her mind will be critical to her success. The combination of regular socialization and exercise will help Estrella develop the skills necessary to become a good canine citizen. We do not know a lot about Estrella's past. However, Estrella has had the opportunity to live with foster families while waiting to find her forever home which has given us a chance to learn more about this lovely little star. Starting to learn the ins and outs of living in a home, Estrella loves soft beds, endless snuggles, and a variety of toys. She is adjusting to crate training and is housebreaking nicely. However, as is true of all new dogs, our little star will need some time and patience to adjust to the expectations of her forever family. Estrella will thrive when provided with structure, routine, and leadership. Living with several other dogs in her foster home, Estrella has done very well with several different personalities. She is flexible, playful, and excited to engage with her furry family members. It is critical that Estrella continue to socialize with other furry friends in controlled environments to maintain her skills. As a dog that was picked up several times by animal control, Estrella is considered a flight risk dog. Her family will need to take precautions to ensure she is safe as she adjusts to her forever home. Keeping Estrella on leash when out and about will be key to her success as she learns the rules and boundaries within her forever home. Training will also go a long way with Estrella. Not only will it help her create a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop into a stable and confident adult.
Affectionate, snuggly, and clearly social, this girl is looking for a soft place to land. If Estrella sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet this little love today!

On a quiet day in December Speck was taken to an overcrowded shelter by his family. Unknown to him, this wasn't just an everyday field trip. He walked into this scary and unknown place with his family but he didn't walk back out with them. Instead, Speck was left behind in a noisy kennel run, with too many smells, and too many questions about what he had done wrong. As is true with most shelters, the shelter Speck found himself in was being inundated with new animals on a daily basis. The number of dogs coming into this shelter simply did not mirror the number of dogs going home. Without many placement options, too many of the animals placed in the shelter are euthanized for space. Although they often have experience living in a home, owner surrenders are typically the first dogs euthanized as a stray hold does not provide them with the safety of a few day reprieve. When shelters are overcapacity, not everyone makes it out alive. Speck's life was at risk the second his paws crossed the threshold. However, unlike many dogs in shelters throughout the country, Speck was lucky as a rescue organization quickly recognized that he was special and began reaching out to rescues for help. They knew that if they could find placement for Speck, he would bring some lucky family endless joy. When asked if we could welcome this sweetheart into the rescue, MAGSR said, "yes."
Speck is the epitome of a honey. This gentle guy easily wins over the hearts of everyone he meets. He is sweet, tenderhearted, and has the most soulful eyes. Having been through some traumatizing changes over the last month and clearly not treated well by someone along his journey, Speck does like to ease into new situations. However, when given some time, patience, and love this boy is more than willing to open up and welcome you into his circle. Handshy and needing some reassurance, Speck likes his people to give him time to come to them. Once he has your trust, Speck loves to cuddle in close. He enjoys a good nose rub and will sit patiently and fall asleep while being brushed. Recognizing the importance of a comfortable spot, Speck easily finds the most comfortable bed, blanket, or couch to lounge on and stretches out happily. Having had the good fortune to live in two different foster homes, Speck has quickly proven that life with other furry creatures is comforting. He has done well with other dogs of different sizes and is a calming member of the pack. He is also learning about his current foster family's cat. They likely won't be best friends for a while as Speck seems intimidated by him, but it appears that Speck lacks prey drive. Still learning the ins and outs of living in a household, every day is a bit of an adventure for Speck. He is crate trained and loves his safe spot. It appears that he may also be housebroken. However, he will need some time to adjust to the routines and structure of his forever family. A fan of the outdoors, Speck seems to greatly enjoy his time outside with his handler. He is easy to walk on leash and remains close to his person. Speck is a true companion.
Unfortunately, we have discovered that Speck is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have been easily avoided had he been provided with monthly prevention. Speck has just begun the first stage of heartworm treatment. He will need to take it easy over the next few months while he goes through treatment. This will give him time to adjust to his new household and heal. Please consider donating to Speck's medical care. Your donation will not only help us provide Speck with the treatment he needs to move forward, but it will also help us continue to welcome dogs with medical needs. Speck is looking for a patient and loving forever family that will love him for a lifetime. Could that family be you?

Gigi was welcomed home to her family as a puppy. She was a bit of a surprise, but was loved by her family. Although the hope was that Gigi would grow old with her family, unfortunately, when severe allergies developed in the household, a change of circumstances was needed. Gigi was moved outside hoping that this would help control the medical responses she was causing. This did relieve some of the allergic reactions; however, Gigi's family knew this wasn't fair to their girl. Knowing that Gigi was special and deserved so much more, they made the difficult decision to surrender Gigi to MAGSR. Saying good-bye is never easy. However, when done in the best interest of your furry friend, it is the right decision. MAGSR promised Gigi's family that we would find her an incredible forever family that would adore her for a lifetime.
Gigi is an intelligent, athletic, and energetic girl. With drive, playfulness, and a desire to learn everything about the world around her, Gigi is an active girl that is looking for an active family. As is true of many GSDs, Gigi's family will need to work both her body and her mind on a daily basis. This is essential as it will help Gigi develop the confidence and skills needed to develop into a good canine citizen. Although Gigi has had the luxury of living in a household, she will need time to adjust to the routines and expectations of her forever family. When provided with clear structure, rules, and expectations, Gigi will thrive. Our volunteers have already begun working with Gigi to help her develop her social skills and leash manners. As she moves forward, it is critical that her forever family complete training with Gigi. Training will not only help Gigi create a strong and healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a stable adult shepherd.
Gigi is looking for an active family that will take her along on all of their adventures. She seeks out the love and attention of her people and is responsive to a confident leader. If Gigi sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet this gorgeous girl today!

The Fall puppies - Autumn, Cider, Ember, Maple, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato (Tator) - were an accidental litter. Raised together with their parents, these dogs have had the chance to learn many doggy social skills. Although their human family enjoyed the puppies, it can be difficult to care for a large litter and challenging to find safe and loving homes. Recognizing that the Fall puppies would be most successful if placed within a breed specific rescue, their family contacted MAGSR. We promised that we would find each pup a safe and loving forever family that would cherish these babies for a lifetime.
The Fall puppies are very large babies for their age. They are clearly big fans of food. Having spent time outside, these babies love the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors. So, they are hoping their forever families love adventures. Although these babies have been socialized well with their doggy family, they have not been exposed to many new people or situations. Socialization is critical to their success. Recognizing that social skills are essential as the Fall puppies move forward, our amazing volunteers are already beginning this process. Learning the ins and outs of living in a household, these babies are learning the joys of endless toys, comfortable beds, and loads of love. As they continue to move forward, all six babies will strive in households that will provide the structure, routine, and leadership that all shepherds crave.
Although these babies are absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless antics. With time, training, and patience, all 6 babies - Autumn, Cider, Ember, Maple, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato - will develop into good canine citizens. If one of the Fall puppies sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet these fluffy bundles of joy today!

On a stormy night early in December, animal control officers were called to help a dog that was running loose in the rain and seemed distressed. When officers arrived, they discovered the dog was wearing an e-collar that was repeatedly shocking him and was in pain. Recognizing this guy needed help immediately, animal control officers didn't waste any time. They removed the e-collar and took the dog to a local shelter. Free from the device and ready to begin moving forward, the dog, who had been named Dizzy, began waiting for his family to come and claim him. When no one came forward, shelter staff began looking for a forever family that would provide Dizzy with the time, patience, leadership, and love that all GSDs deserve. Although he was cleared for adoption, they knew that this big guy, like all shepherds, would be best placed with a breed specific rescue. When they reached out to us for help, we knew Dizzy was the perfect match for the MAGSR family.
Delightful Dizzy is a friendly guy who seems to have a love for life. Happy, playful, and active, this guy tends to greet visitors with a loose, wiggly body, but can be too excited and do some jumping. Socialized somewhere along his journey, Dizzy seems to know that people are good, kind, and often have plenty of treats. Familiar with a leash, Dizzy has enjoyed his walks at the shelter and with his foster family. He is learning to tone down the pulling, but in some ways he feels he can't help himself. A true nose dog, Dizzy enjoys long walks with his sniffer to the ground. There is simply so much to take in in the world around him that he doesn't want to miss a beat. Training will go a long way with Dizzy. Not only will it help him create a strong, healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the manners needed to become a good canine citizen. Both treat and toy motivated, Dizzy will be the star of training class.
Although we do not know much about his past, we do know that Dizzy's future is bright. He has displayed some environmental confidence and positive social interest when greeting other dogs. He has also shown a solid foundation of confidence and some stability. Playful, intelligent, and half-convinced he's an 80lb lap dog, Dizzy is looking for an active forever family that will love him for a lifetime. If this goofy guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet Dizzy today!

Meet Farrah! Farrah was found as a stray who, despite clearly seeing some rough times, was still extremely friendly and people oriented at the shelter. Unfortunately for Farrah, time to charm families at the shelter was short, but the staff worked diligently to find her a rescue where she could be seen for what she is- a true diamond in the rough! Poor, sweet Farrah must have struggled to find food prior to arriving at the shelter as she is emaciated and had to overcome several infections before she could start trying to gain any weight back. Now in a foster home, with lower stress levels and continued vet care, Farrah is on the road to recovery! Malinois tend to have a certain reputation for being overly energetic and drivey dogs but Farrah has shown that with age comes grace and poise...and a love for couch surfing! Farrah is game to explore the trails or play with toys, but her number one love is snuggling on a soft surface with an endless supply of pets (she's not above nudging your hands to remind you of your priorities!) Farrah does however have the super brain her breed is blessed with and has already caught on to several training commands and is crate/house trained. Farrah has three cat and two dog siblings in her foster home who she enjoys thoroughly. She still considers chasing a running cat but readily calls it off when she is caught in the act. She easily fits in with the other dogs in the home as a stable companion. Farrah is still a new arrival within her foster home and is sure to exhibit new behaviors as she blossoms into her true self. Her foster family is sure that as she gets more comfortable she will show off some more layers of her beautiful personality and engage in more playful antics with her foster brothers. For now, she is just so grateful for couches and ear rubs to concern herself with much else! Farrah is looking for a forever family that will adore her for a lifetime, could that family be you?

The Holiday Puppies - Tinsel, Mistletoe, Joy, and Jingle - are a merry little bunch. This sweet group of babies was an "accidental litter" that was born into a loving household in the area. Although their owner ensured that the puppies stayed with their mom until they were old enough to find homes of their own, he knew that providing for so many babies was too much. He also knew that he would need help to find safe and loving forever homes for the littles. So, he reached out to the rescue community for help. Fortunately, several groups came together to help move the Holiday litter forward. With teamwork in place, the entire litter moved into rescues this week. Two of the babies went to another GSD rescue. The remaining four babies were welcomed to the MAGSR family.
The Holiday puppies have moved into loving forever families that are providing them with soft, warm, and loving households for the holidays. Typical babies, these littles are curious, affectionate, and playful. They are beyond happy to enjoy a plethora of toys, endless cuddles, and tasty treats. Having moved into loving foster homes, our amazing volunteers are working to help these babies develop the skills needed to meet with success. They have begun housebreaking, crate training, and learning some basic manners. In addition they are also getting endless opportunities to socialize. Socialization is critical to their success. This must be continued in their forever homes as this will help them develop the confidence needed to be stable adults. Although the Holiday puppies - Tinsel, Joy, Mistletoe, and Jingle - are absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill you home with endless puppy antics. Incredible Izzy was picked up as a stray in the south. Although she was lucky to be picked up and brought to a shelter, unfortunately, with overwhelming numbers of homeless animals everywhere, her life remained in danger. Although shelter staff did everything they could to find her family, when no one stepped forward after her stray hold, Izzy found herself in a scary situation. Recognizing that Izzy, like so many others, deserved a chance to move forward safely, a plea for rescue placement was sent out to the GSD community. When asked if we could welcome Izzy to the MAGSR family, our team knew we were the right people to move this lovely girl forward.
Incredible Izzy is a bright, friendly, and energetic girl. She is looking for a family that will include her on their adventures keeping her body and her mind well exercised. Clearly well socialized prior to her arrival, Izzy loves her people and has done well with large furry friends. Although Izzy has begun developing a solid foundation, it is critical that her forever family continues to socialize her with new people, other animals, and in new environments. This will help Izzy continue to develop into a stable and confident adult. We do not know much about Izzy's past, but we do know that she has a bright future. As Izzy may not have much experience in a loving household, she will benefit from time and patience in her new home. With structure, routine, and leadership, Izzy will thrive. An intelligent girl, Izzy will be the star pupil at training. Not only will training help Izzy create a strong, healthy bond with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Izzy is heartworm positive. This diagnosis could have easily been avoided had she been provided a monthly preventative. Heartworm treatment is expensive; however, Izzy is clearly more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Izzy's care. Your donation will not only help Izzy continue to move forward, but it will also help us continue to support dogs with medical needs. Izzy will need to take it easy over the next few months as she undergoes heartworm treatment. She is hoping to take it easy while settling in with her forever family. If Izzy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet this incredible girl today!

Recently, the MAGSR family welcomed a small litter of cruelty and neglect survivors - the Chipmunks litter. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were born into a home with limited resources. The boys did not receive the food, medical care, daily support, or environmental cleanliness necessary to ensure that they were healthy pups. Upon arrival, our team discovered that the boys were malnourished, riddled with worms, dirty, and sick. In addition, two of the boys had some additional medical needs that raised immediate concerns. Theodore arrived with a large, fluid filled lump on his head which was likely the result of trauma. Simon arrived with a dislocated back right leg that had been out of the socket for some time. Recognizing they needed immediate support, volunteers worked collaboratively to get their vetting addressed, begin a safe feeding schedule, and move all three pups forward. Unfortunately, just as we thought the litter was moving in the right direction, two of the boys popped positive with parvo. Knowing that immediate care was needed, the boys were rushed to the emergency room where they were hospitalized. Parvo is a highly contagious virus; it is particularly challenging for puppies with weak immune systems to survive. Keeping the boys hydrated, controlling their GI upset, preventing secondary infections, monitoring their bloodwork, and providing medications, one of our incredible vetting partners provided the boys with the critical care needed to fight. Parvo care is very expensive. But, we knew these babies deserved every chance to fight this diagnosis. Donations are appreciated as this will help us continue to support and welcome dogs with medical needs.
Although they have been through one obstacle after another, Simon and his brothers - Alvin and Theodore - have maintained sweet and solid personalities. They are playful, handsome, energetic boys. Having survived against the odds, these boys have turned a page and are ready to learn the joys of living in a loving home. Living with amazing foster families, the boys remain loving and affectionate with both their human and furry friends. With clear routines, expectations, and leadership in place, the boys are thriving. The MAGSR family has taught the boys the joys of a comfortable bed, the importance of exciting toys, the ins and outs of housebreaking, and the value of socializing with others.
Simon is a sweet, silly, and affectionate boy. Although he enjoys his playtime, he lives for cuddles and extra snuggles from his people.Typical of the breed, Simon is a velcro puppy that loves to be with his people. He will make an amazing companion ensuring that his family always has companionship. True of all babies, Simon enjoys toys, treats, and attention. He is hoping his forever family has an endless supply of all of these. Daily play time, training, and socialization will be critical to his success. This will help him develop the skills needed to become a stable and confident adult. Simon has survived more than anyone could have imagined at such a young age. However, his fight is not yet finished. Simon's right, back leg is in need of surgical intervention. He is currently building up strength so that he can move forward with this next piece of his recovery. Simon will be meeting with a surgical specialist soon to determine next steps. Surgery will be expensive, but we know this little guy deserves to continue moving forward. Please consider donating to Simon's care. Your donation will not only help Simon receive the critical care he needs to comfortably move about his world, but it will also help us continue to welcome medical dogs into the MAGSR family.
Although the boys are as sweet as they can be, please remember that puppies are hard work. They will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your household with endless puppy antics. With time, training, patience and routine, we know Simon will grow up to become a good canine citizen. If your household is ready to welcome this handsome little cuddle bug into your home, please ask to meet him today!

Tahoe is a lucky guy. Picked-up as a stray and brought to a shelter that was significantly over capacity for care, this guy was living on borrowed time. As shelters across the country are overflowing and not enough families are stepping forward to adopt, many animals do not make it out. When a family did not step forward for Tahoe, it seemed like his fate was sealed. Fortunately, another rescue had a temp foster open up and Tahoe was pulled from the shelter right before he was euthanized. Although it was known that a breed specific rescue would be needed in the future, the rescue began working with Tahoe to ensure that his medical needs were met. Tahoe had his vetting updated and his heartworm treatment completed while living with an amazing foster family. They loved him but knew that with treatment complete, it was time to move Tahoe forward. When asked if we could be the next stop on Tahoe's journey, team MAGSR stepped forward and welcomed this handsome boy to the family.
Tahoe is an absolute sweetheart. Easy to leash, gentle with treats, and beyond happy to lean into the handler for love and attention, this guy simply steals your heart. Clearly well-socialized with people, Tahoe understands that company is nice to have. However, as is true with many shepherds, he prefers a little time to get to know new people and adjust to new environments. Having lived in a foster home, Tahoe has had the opportunity to learn many of the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained. He has even had the chance to live with other dogs and did very well. Friendly and affectionate, Tahoe seems to have a nice foundation. As he moves forward, Tahoe will benefit from continued controlled socialization with new people and in new environments. Although he already knows some basic commands, such as, sit, down, and shake, he will benefit greatly from training. Training will be key to his success. Not only will it help him create a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the confidence and skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Tahoe is looking for a forever family that enjoys a moderate energy guy, treats, and daily belly rubs. If this sweetheart sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!

Lovely Lulu was adopted by her family a couple of years ago from a local shelter. They adored her and gave her endless opportunities to shine. Fortunate to have landed in a loving home, Lulu learned the ins and outs of living in a household and had opportunities to socialize with other dogs and children. Unfortunately, when her family's situation changed, they could no longer provide Lulu with the life they knew she deserved. So, they made the decision to do what was in Lulu's best interest and surrender her to a rescue so that she could find a safe, loving, and incredible forever family. This decision is never an easy one, but her family knew that it was the right choice. MAGSR promised Lulu's family that we would find her an incredible match that would love her for a lifetime.
Lulu is a friendly, active, and intelligent girl. Clearly well socialized, she enjoys the company of people and has had the opportunity to interact with both children and adults. She has also had opportunities to connect with other dogs and has done well. It is critical that Lulu's forever family continue this process as a social dog is a stable dog. Having lived in a home, Lulu does understand many of the expectations of household living. However, as is true of any new dog, she will need time to adjust to the expectations and routines of her forever home. She, like all GSDs, will thrive with patience, structure, and leadership. Mirroring her responses to the handler, Lulu prefers a clear but confident handler who maintains stability and control. Typical of the breed, Lulu can become anxious, talkative, and jumpy in new environments. However, when given clear directions and a chance to decompress, she does respond beautifully. Lulu already knows a few commands, such as sit and stay, but she is ready to learn more. Training will go a long way with this sweetheart. Not only will it help Lulu build a strong and healthy relationship with her forever family, but it will also help her develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Lulu is looking for an active family that will take her with them on their adventures, provide her with plenty of squeaky toys, and enjoy endless cuddles and kisses. If this stunning girl sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet her today!

Living with: Shelter
Fabulous Fatu was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. This charismatic boy easily won over staff members and even had the chance to meet some older children. Although it seemed that Fatu had been loved by someone along his way, no one came forward to bring him home. As shelters are beyond overwhelmed with dogs needing placement, many dogs end up on the list to be euthanized. Recognizing that this boy was very special, the rescue community began working together to try to find a temporary foster and rescue placement for this sweet guy. Teamwork was Fatu's saving grace. Working with several different groups and an amazing foster family, MAGSR was able to pull Fatu the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. We cannot thank the rescue community enough for all of their support.
Fabulous Fatu is a young, happy, and intelligent guy. Still a juvenile, he can display some typical puppy energy, particularly when playing with other dogs. However, for his age, Fatu is surprisingly calm and gentle. It is beyond evident that this guy has been loved and well socialized by someone prior to his arrival. A sweet, chill guy, Fatu enjoys the company of people and other dogs particularly when given a few minutes to warm up. With so many changes in his life lately, we cannot blame this handsome guy for wanting a minute to adjust. Although we do not know much about his past, it is clear that Fatu understands many of the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and is doing a fantastic job with crate training. A huge fan of cuddles and soft, warm beds, Fatu enjoys the comforts and security of living in a home. As is true of all new dogs, Fatu will need time to adjust to the routines and expectations of his forever family. With time, patience, structure, and leadership, we know that Fatu will thrive. Like many young dogs, Fatu does need to learn some leash manners. Training and continued socialization will be key to his success. Training will not only help him create a strong, healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Fatu's gentle nature and cautious curiosity make him a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a sweet, easygoing friend. If this handsome boy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today.

Mable was picked up as a stray in the south. When she arrived at the shelter, it was highly evident that this girl needed help. Extremely emaciated, still lactating from a recent litter, heartworm positive, and suffering from dislocated hip and a fractured pelvis, shelter staff knew this girl was in rough shape. Although she was unable to walk, Mabel was still all tail wags and love as she attempted to interact with shelter staff, particularly when they brought high-value treats to say hi. Recognizing that they did not have the resources to help Mabel, the shelter added her to their list to be euthanized as a way to end her suffering rather than leave her in pain and without proper care. Fortunately, a foster for another rescue in the area stepped up for Mabel at the last second and she was pulled just in time.
Living in the safety of a loving and experienced foster home, Mabel started the long path toward recovery. Strengthening her system for the road ahead, Mabel began gaining some much needed weight. With good nutrition and the chance to begin healing, Mabel made the progress needed to start addressing her health concerns. A few weeks ago, Mabel underwent surgery for her hip and pelvis. She was a champ throughout the entire process and is recovering nicely. As the healing process is moving along as expected and Mabel is feeling much more like a healthy dog again, her foster mom knew it was time to find a breed specific rescue for Mabel so that she could move forward with . Knowing we could help Mabel complete the rest of her medical journey as well as find her an amazing forever home. Mabel is still healing from a FHO but is mobile and doing well. She needs restricted walks and should not be bouncing around for a few more weeks. As Mabel is heartworm positive, she will be on restricted exercise moving forward. Due to the condition in which she arrived in foster care, Mabel needed to gain strength and weight before heartworm treatment could begin. As these milestones have been met, Mabel can begin this next process. Mabel is good with other dogs and people. She is unknown for kids and cats.
