Success Stories

This is what we are all about.

When we place a dog in a great home, everyone in the rescue is elated. Nothing feels better than helping our dogs on their journey to find a forever home where they can love and be loved.

We thank every one of our adoptive families for opening their hearts and homes to our dogs.

These are the most recent MAGSR Success Stories. Success Stories reported prior to 2016 can be found here.

Dixie (fka Sugar)
Dixie (fka Sugar)

Dixie (fka Sugar)

Sugar NKA Dixie has been the perfect addition to our family. She's brought some life back into the household after our lab passed away, and bonded very quickly with our other German Shepherd, Timber (pictured below). She's happiest following mom all around the house and getting her snuggles in every day. She especially enjoys playing (and sometimes tormenting) Timber through endless play and stealing his treats. Dixie LOVES her long walks and won't miss the opportunity to sing along with other dogs when they howl. She keeps a watchful eye over her house (often peeking through the bay window to keep tabs on everything) and always welcomes everyone home with the biggest hug and kiss, as long as she gets her belly rub in, too. :)

Loki (fka Moose)
Loki (fka Moose)

Loki (fka Moose)

Loki is a farm dog. We adopted him on March 5, 2017. He loves running, chasing butterflies, getting muddy, getting hosed off, running more, and rain or shine or snowstorm he always wants to be outside with me. I work out in a vineyard with 20 acres surrounded by 12 foot high deer fence. He has free reign to go wherever he wants. Short description of the photos. My wife Sarah and I on a hike up in PA. Loki carried his own food and water and had a blast! Loki on an average summer day at work after taking a mud bath. He seems to think it is good for his skin because he does it every day, and if I hose him off he immediately goes and gets muddy again! Loki runs everywhere. He also like trying to catch butterflies and can easily amuse himself scaring up bugs and leaping into the air trying to eat them. Loki at the lake. Glamour shot!

Rosie (fka Misty)

Rosie (fka Misty)

Rosie (fka Misty) has become part of ourfamily. It was a semi-rough start since Rosie was a bit of a biter and needed lots of socialization. But with time, patience, training  and love, Rosie has settle into her new home and is very much loved.  She still has moments of wild crazy puppy behavior, but we wouldn’t trade her for the world.  She is full of life, watches over the family and loves to play.  She lives for attention and makes us laugh almost every single day.  Thank you for letting us adopt this cutie.

Chauncey
Chauncey

Chauncey

We adopted Chauncey in July of this year.  At the time, Bella (our other dog, a GSD/Mastiff mix) was just over a year old, and we felt like she needed a partner in crime.  Chauncey has blended in with our family and friends seamlessly.  He and Bella are the best of friends - they love going out and running around the yard together, and playing tug in the house.   Chauncey loves the kids, and has taken to sleeping in their rooms.  Our younger son actually sleeps better with him in the room - he told us when has a bad dream, "I wake up and pat Chauncey, and it makes me feel better so I can go back to sleep."   We like having family and friends over, and he has charmed all of them.  He loves a good tummy rub, and as it is getting colder he seems to enjoy lying next to the fire. He is an incredibly sweet soul, and his favorite thing aside from playing with his sister is snuggling with his people. Bella can be a bit bossy, and Chauncey is very tolerant of her whims - he knows when he can sneak in snuggles and treats of his own.  He is really smart, and very easy to train.  We cannot fathom that anyone would ever give him up, but we feel very lucky that he came into our lives.  He has been a wonderful addition to our family, and we feel so lucky to be able to give him a forever home.   Thank you to MAGSR - you all were spot on in your recommendation, and it has been great to work with you all through the adoption!   Bob, Kari, Emmett and Conrad Stuntz

Takoda (fka Bear)
Takoda (fka Bear)

Takoda (fka Bear)

Here's a quick pup-date on Takoda. He's settled in well with our older Golden Retriever, Bailey, and they enjoy each other's company. Bailey generously shared her monthly Bark Box toys with Takoda, but he played too hard with them and the toys were reduced to bits of stuffing in no time at all. Now both dogs get their own Bark Box; Bailey gets fluffy toys and Takoda gets the Super Chewer toys all to himself.  Takoda has met a lot of new friends on his daily walks, both the two-legged and four-legged kinds. In fact, he's so good at making friends with everyone that he's now certified by Pets on Wheels as a therapy dog. He seems to enjoy cheering up the residents at a local healthcare facility. He was even in our town's Veteran's Day parade with his therapy dog buddies.(Photos enclosed.) We're very grateful to MAGSR for trusting us with Takoda. We look forward to spending many, many years together.  Tracy Denman

Mila (fka Dasha)
Mila (fka Dasha)

Mila (fka Dasha)

Mila, FKA Dasha, just celebrated her 1st adoption day (11/29/17) and 6th birthday with us this year! Over the past year, she has learned a lot and has grown so much. Her sassy personality definitely shines through more and more. Mila gets a lot of compliments on how beautiful she is whenever we go out. We even got a few compliments on her temperament! We are so proud of her! She loves taking hikes, playing ball, going on car rides, watching squirrels, and getting daily visits from the neighboring cat. She loves her mom and dad very much and doesn't let them stray too far. For the past year, Mila has been one tough trooper. We’ve been battling a chronic ear infection that has led us to become frequent fliers at the vet. She’s established quite a fan base at the vet as we go in weekly. One thing is for sure, we have learned so much from Mila and we are so thankful she is a part of our family.

Augustus

Gus was adopted on August 2, 2018 by Bri and Will. He is best friends with his one year old pal, Sal. Gus and Sal love to wrestle and chase each other. Gus also loves the dog park and hiking! He is a loud pup and tells us everything we need to know. His favorite toy is his ball and he can catch and fetch for hours. He will give you all the kisses you want and then some. Gus is looking forward to Christmas, and even started celebrating by bringing his mom ornaments off of the tree.

Dutchess
Dutchess

Dutchess

Dutchess has fit into our home so well that it’s like she’s been here a long time! At first she wasn’t too keen on being hugged but will now come over and lay her head on you to let you know she wants a hug!

She plays well with our Chihuahua and a Shih Tzu mix. Taco the Chihuahua seems to feel she’s the same size as Duchess. Dutchess and Taco frequently play tug-of-war. She and shitzu Jingle are less fond of each other but do have fun running up and down the hill in the back yard, chasing squirrels and barking at birds.

Dutchess loves her toys. She can often be found carrying a squeaky toy in her mouth and squeezing it as she “kicks” a ball in front of her. She hates the Roomba and takes refuge in her bed!

Our two daughters 18 and 14 adore Dutchess and lavish attention upon her. My husband Chris has taken her to obedience training and she passed flying colors. In addition to obeying most of the time she can give paw, sit and stay. Since I’m home every day we have gotten to be pretty good pals as well. If I go to another part of the house it’s not long until she is looking for me.

She loves riding in the car and collecting puppy treats at the Dairy Queen, Starbucks and Chick-fil-A. We are very happy she is a part of our family

Jackie loves to snuggle with us on the sofa and watch movies. She and Ellie get to run and play  in the yard every day and get special treats from their grandparents on holidays. They get a bark box every month with fun toys to keep them entertained and lots of yummy treats.
